How to disassemble a M1a / M14 bolt wthout a bolt tool

Someday I'll take apart a bolt...but I'll do it from inside an empty refrigerator box so when it explodes in my face I can find the bits!

I used an empty .45 case.
Needed an extra set of hands to get it back together.

Been doing it that way for years. Also if you slip a spent 9mm case over the mouth of a 30'06 it works for the M1 Garand as well.

Remember, plug the bathtub drain, pull the shower curtain, spread out the white beach towel, and finally cover the bolt being disassembed. Go SLOW!

Yes, it is the same. The M14 bolt is just a little shorter and has the bolt roller on the right lug.

I see, thank you, I recently installed the guts in a garand bolt and it was rather painless, I am sure I watched a you tube video on it and had very little trouble with it

Yup, I'd agree , the Tony Ben collection could darn near "replace" most of the info in ourCGN stickies. Except for the stuff that is unique to the norinco guns.
I would also vote that this should be stickied
