This has been here for half a day, and I'm the first one to make the "SKS is not a Battle Rifle" comment? Guys, our snobbery is starting to slip.

Side note: Cool video.

it is and it isn't. It was used in battles (Vietnam), so technically it is. However it isn't in a big bore WW1 or 2 battle rifle cartridge, so it isn't.

But yes, neat video.

This video belongs in the Red Rifle section where we appreciate the SKS more. I rarely look at the Main Battle Rifles section but sometimes
you guys have such incredible gems such as this video, I'm going to have to check more often!

...it isn't?

Main Battle Rifles are semi-auto or select fire rifles that fire a full powered cartridge (in the .308, 30-06, 8mm Mauser, 7.62x54R, .303 British, etc. category). Full stop.

The SKS fires an intermediate cartridge, which disqualifies it from the category. It isn't a comment on it's effectiveness, quality, importance, or historical use. It's a technical separation of different classes of rifle.
