How to fix a broken metal piece?

perfect opportunity to switch to a new fibre optic set of sights. way easier to replace the sight than to fix it.

Assuming that the blade has separated from the base, replace, otherwise try some JB weld which is likely to cost almost as much as a plain jane rear site with less effort in replacing.
 
if it's like most ruger parts, it is made utilizing investment casting or powder metallurgy does not like welding or even brazing for repair work + I agree with the comment to replace it would be cheaper.
I've found that ruger USA will supply articles to CAN that are not parts of the firing mechanics if you want stock

it might be a little tricker than straight steel but still possible and investment casting doesn't usually use powder metalurgy and seeing the part I would imagine that the parts are made by die casting just a guess though don't have one infront of me to tell for sure
 
part #B-76- 4.50 in my manual- contact SNAPSHOTS- CAROLE PETRIE to get one the just tap the old one out and the new one in with a brass punch- probably be another 4 bucks to ship -

A jeweller is going to charge about as much as a 10-22 is worth. For small parts like this, it just ain't worth it! Of course, you could use the Depression era fix; get a US dime, fold it in 2, bang down on it until the bottom is sorta doetailed, then file to fit. (The reason to use a foreign coin is that it is illegal to deface Canadian coins, the attraction about using a Yank dime is they might come and get you with a black helicopter and offer you a nice warm climate vacation someplace warm, like Syria, or even Cuba)!
