I am new to this forum and (actually I just got my PAL so I am currently looking for a good cheap handgun ) I would really like to get into loading my own cartridges but I am not sure how I should start. Anybody have any helpfull hints for me?

Thank you

I think the best way to get started is to pick up one of the many good reloading manuals out there (you'll eventually want two or more reloading manuals) and get familiar with all the reloading steps and the tools that you'll need. It's not hard once you understand the basic steps. Think about how much money you're willing to spend and that will help you decide on the press, tools, etc. that you'll want.

Also, there are lots of guys on CGN willing to share their knowledge... just keep asking questions!

Definately need a good loading manual, Scott N hit the nail on the head for that. If you happen to know anyone who reloads go see them, watch them load, or do some loading yourself at there place.

I started just a couple years ago with an rcbs rockchucker kit. I highly recommend it, however I don't really think you will go wrong with any of the major presses out there right now, certain presses have advantages you have to weigh against the cost. For example the rockchucker has considerable more leverage then other rcbs presses like the partner, probably not a big deal in a pistol cartridges but a nice advantage for large bottle neck cartridges, of course you can still load them with a partner, it's just not as handy.
