How to mount a light to the Ultimak rail

Hi folks,

I like the Ultimak rail for it's low profile look, super-low optic mounting (co-witness), quality, affordability and barrel stiffening.

For about one year I was wondering how to use it to mount a light without adding another rail (avoid the weight and military look).

I searched much, considered dozens of light mount and offset rails, bought a few ones but it wouldn't work, putting the light too far or obstructing the sights.

The Vltor SM-OCG appeared to me and I got it from Brownells. It puts a Surefire G2/G3 right in the good spot and is small enough and don't require a tool. Works on the M14 and Mini-14 Ultimak rail.

Nice setup. I happened upon that Vltor mount a while ago for almost the same config, except on a Marlin 1894SS outfitted with an XS lever rail and an Aimpoint Micro. My tactical hillbilly rifle

That must have been a nice .44mag! :)

Are you co-witnessing? What kind of ring are you using and want to sell me the other one?

Yes, I have full use of the iron sights without any obstruction. I pre-zeroed the ML3 by cowitnessing indoor.

It's the Aimpoint SRP-L made for that particular optic. So it doesn't come in a pair. It's so low that I may not be able to use the front flip-up cap.
