Hi,

I have a little buck skull that I'd like to clean up to display. I want to clean up both the skull and the lower jaw.

I have skinned out the skull. But I'm not sure what to do next. I've cut off skull caps before and just boiled them to get the last of the tissue off. But now I've got the problem of getting the brain out, etc. What is the most practical way to get this skull prepared?

Good thread here.... http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=288626

Brains are pretty easy to scoop out after they've boiled a while. Use a screw driver to get in the brain cavity from the rear and stir them up really good then you can usually flush them out with water. Be careful if you are keeping the lower jaw though as it splits apart quite easily at the front if boiled too long or even if handled to roughly when it's warm. UIse some dishwashing detergent or soda ash in your water when boiling to cut the grease better.
