Just checked my pair and the old one is a 74 but the second has a 256 for the first three numbers, they are not on the list. 255 is 04 and 257 is 05, mine must have been made sometime in there i suppose. Kind of nice to be check the year of build.

Your 256 would be a 2004 Date of Manufacture (DOM). What this list gives you is a general idea as to what the serial #'s were at the beginning of each the year. So basically anything that falls in between serial numbers of different years would mean that the DOM is the earlier year of the two. For example in year 1, there were approximately 452 Ruger 10/22's manufactured, the 453rd came in 1965. This list is a general guideline and may not be 100% accurate....but at least it gives you a good idea on what year your gun could have been made in.

I bought mine this year and the first few digits are 827-###xx. 827 must mean 2014
