I see guys in PRS using sand bags on top of their tripods...

Does someone sell some sort of kit for this?

Especially for 22 LR, I would like something that doubles as a little table top with a small lip around it so I can have a flat and clean work surface to load mags between stages.

Any ideas guys?

Lots of guys just put a gamechanger over their ballhead or apex of their tripod. You can also get a "tac table" that connects into your ball head and gives you that flat surface. A few companies make them (Gray Ops, Abel Table, etc) and some "gamer plates" serve double-duty (like the Area 419 Railchanger X) but you can easily make one by bolting an arca plate to the bottom of a piece of aluminium or plexiglass or something similar.

I threw a $5 arca rail onto a piece of plastic cutting board that I chopped in half (couldn't buy it the exact size I wanted)... it was by far the quickest and most inexpensive tac table, and certainly works rather well. Throw a bag on top, and you can stabilize your binos, rifle, do eat a 3 course meal, whatever your hearts desire.

just use on top and another hanging from the center post

That is a great idea. Saves me buying a name brand plate.
