How to reduce the barrel-cylinder gap?
Could I just add some thin washer between the cylinder and the extractor?
I'm talking about 0.002" hare. And, by the way, where from can I get such thin washers?

thanks

edit: the revolver is a Ruger GP100

cylinder gap

More info on the type of pistol would help cylinder gap is fixed i believe by shimming the yoke ,washers or shims are availible from Brownells.
Cheers tornado

Measure the gap on each chamber when it is cocked and locked. Are they all the same? If they are not, then the front of the cylinder may need a very light truing cut first... How big a gap is it? ... you may be trying to fix something that is not broken...

The gap is 0.008 which acceptable but barely (especially for a new gun).
And yes, it is the same for all chambers. Sooner or later I'll have to do something about it and since I do have some time...

if you move teh cylinder forward, you increase headspace. those endshake shims you see for sale go in front of the cylinder, and increases the flash gap.

the proper way to decrease it is to turn the barrel in one turn

I hear you, but I'm not worried about a 0.002 headspace increase.
I'm going to try some tinfoil between the cylinder and the ejector. If it measures ok, I'll be looking for a more durable material.
