hey everyone, i just got a williams sight set today and the instructions are very vauge. i have a norinco sks and i cannot remove the front sight. now i did remove the post but how do i remove the part that the front post screws into? ive tried using a punch and hammer and that doesent seem to do it. also the rear sight after removing the retaining pin does not seem to want to come free. any tips?

Front sight; put a drop of good penetrating oil like Kroil on it from the top, let it soak a while. Use a front sight pusher (looks like a small C-clamp) and make sure that the hole in the jaw lines up with the pin you are trying to push out. (Mine kept slipping down and blocking the pin so I had to grind the jaw back so that it fit over the curve of the sight hood). One its moving you can tap it the rest of the way with a punch.

Rear sight; there is a little pin in the center of the rear sight trunion that you have to punch out or the trunion will not slide out to the rear of the sight base as it is designed to do.

thanks, ive removed the pin from rear sight, the sight its self doesent seem to want to move. ill get a bigger hammer and punch. the front sight removal tool where do i get one?

When you mention "bigger hammer and punch" are you referring to the front or rear sight? To get the rear sight out, once that little pin is out you just need to press the sight down (compressing the spring under it) and pry it backwards. You can see the slots on the inside of the sight base that the trunions slide back through.

Tradex carries the front sight pusher but they are fairly commonly available, I bought mine at the local gun shop.
