I know there is a wrench for most AR`s. Imperial Defense does not make a tool. The collet has two small holes, one at 12 o`clock and the other at 6 o`clock. I have asked the retailer and sent an e-mail to IDS, no luck. There has to be tool to remove it. I do not want to bang away at it with a hammer and punch. I would think a plier type with two prongs that would fit in the holes and you just twist it off? Any help people? Thanks.

I have zero patience...I got it off with a drift punch. No problem and no damage. I would still be interested to know if there is a proper tool.

usually, one would use a 'pin-style' spanner. it fits in one of the two holes and then you just wrench it off. Some castle nuts have square notches and some have pin holes and some have both.

Brownells sells any type of wrench you might ever need for an Ar15. They ship to Canada too.

or try one of the sponsors at the top of the page.

If you have a place that sells hand tools near you, they should have a pin-style spanner wrench as well, probably be cheaper than ordering an "ar15 pin spanner". I've never seen one at CT but then again I've never looked.
