Hopefully a picture and short explanation will help.
I'm trying to remove the endcap from a barrel shroud on an air rifle. It appears that Air Arms secured the endcap with a clear thread locker and I can't seem to get the thing off. I've tried heating the endcap with a heat gun to 650 degrees (according to the specs of the heat gun) and using a silicone oven mitt to twist it off but it won't budge? I'm probably not applying enough force using the mitt but I don't want to mar the cap by using pliers.
Anyone have any suggestions on getting the endcap off? Maybe more heat needed with a butane or propane torch but will it damage the aluminum anodizing? How can I get a better grip on the endcap without damaging it?
Really appreciate any suggestions.
