Hello

I wish to know how to remove the forearm and barrel from a Savage Model 24 .410/ .22LR Combo Gun. I have other O/U shotguns and they have a lever or a button that you flip up or push and off comes the forearm and barrels.

I see no such lever or button on the Savage model 24.

Thanks for your help!

On my 24 you just pull it away from the barrel. No screw. Grab the front of the forend and pull down away from barrel. It pivots on the action and pops off. To remove the barrel, hold onto barrel and open action. Barrel comes right off.
Mine is a 24c in .22lr/20 gauge with the break action lever located on the front of the trigger guard.

If there is a screw, remove it. If there isn't the forend is retained by a spring detent.
I do not see a screw on the forearm. The only screws I see are two on the butt plate and a very small screw on the left side of the shotgun barrel just in front of the hammer. How do I use the spring detent to release the forearm? Or where is the spring detent? Forgive my ignorance

On my 24C it is simply spring loaded. Pull downward at the front and it releases. It's a bit stiff and needs a good pull, but it does come away. No tools or prying required.

Set the gun down with the muzzle pointing to the ceiling and the forearm facing you.

Grab the top section of the forearm and pull it towards you.

It will come off, you won't break it.

Then just open the action and the barrel will come out, you might have to slide it towards the buttstock but most times you won't.
