How to remove lower half of front handguard in type 81?

Looks like after removing top half, you drift out the holding pin, right side to left side (looking down, from the rear), and move the ferule ahead and out she comes. Is that right?

Yes, lower wood piece, I'm installing a quadrail.

No, don't touch the pin . Just unscrew the screw at the bottom of the lower HG. Vola!

Exactly! If u take out the screw and the wood handguard still doesn't come free, that just means its stuck with friction. So ull have to carefully hammer it off. It pivots out at the back first, so hammer near there. Good luck!
