How to remove sight on 10/22 Carbine barrel

I got an aftermarket stock kit for my 10/22. It requires me to remove the front sight on the barrel. The sight looks like it wraps around the barrel and isnt just screwed into place. Any idea how I would go about removing this sight? Or do I have to buy an new barrel? Thanks.

The sight base is part of the barrel. Can be removed with a lathe. The front sight itself is a friction fit in its dovetail. It can be removed with a sight pusher, or with a non marring drift. Secure the barrel in a padded vice.

It is really odd that a kit would require altering a factory barrel. If the kit says you need to remove the sight, I would think just removing the sight from the dovetail would be sufficient.
