I just got this 1956 Model 94 and have been trying to remove the rear sight to clear the sighting plane so I can install a Williams rear sight.
I did the same some years ago to a 1974 Model 94 and a few taps with a brass rod drifted out the rear sight no problem, but on the 1956, it just won't budge, no matter how hard I try.
I hit it so hard it scored the brass punch.
I don't need to get it off, as I've put the Williams on and looked through it and the sight picture appears in between the wings of the buckhorn sight, but prefer to get it off.
Do I need to find a sight pushing tool? Take it to a 'smith? Penetrating oil? Apply heat?
