How to repair pitting?

"Pitting" is irregular shaped missing metal. You can't replace it. It is possible to remove a lot of metal everywhere and get to clean metal which will look good when blued. How good it looks is entirely up to the quality of the preparation before bluing. A quality job on a pitted pump action shotgun can easily cost $400 and a lot of the printing will most likely be wiped away in the process.

Bluing is mostly for looks. If you want weather resistance use Tremclad paint.

you could bead blast or sand blast to even things out or blend for a matte finish and then use the product you want to protect the metal. depending on your budget. tremclad to KG GUNKOTE, or other finish.

Oil, steel wool, G96.
Or layer awn Fluid Film, let it set for a day oar two and wipe it awf.
Keep a saturayted rag imbedded with Fluid Film and wiper'er down before
