So, how does that work? it must be etching the surface of the teeth but how does that make them sharper?

Cool. I've got a couple dead files I can try this on. I've done the flattened copper pipe trick before and that does clean out the gunk in between the teeth but the acid bath is new to me.

Buddy once gave me a bottle of miracle stuff, Just brush it on to sharpen your knife. As they say, there's one born every minute.

Absolutely, been working for me for many years now. Last thing I do after using my files is the old swipe, swipe thing before they go back in the box.

Just about any hardware store CTC, Home Hardware etc usually have them somewhere on a shelf. My last one came from Home Hardware.
