How to ship a stock?

Canada post sells rolls of bubble wrap and brown wrapping paper .wrap it well place it in an appropriate size cardboard box tape it up well and send it on it way .insure it and get a tracking number .
 
If it is an over under stock that has wood that goes up the side the receiver (I call them ears), then put a small bock of wood between the ears so they don't snap off under pressure

If shipping to the States refer to it as carved wood.

You don't need to do that. There is no restrictions on importing a stock into the U.S.

Just put the correct HS code on the shipping label where it asks for it and write "wood stock" in the description.

The code for stocks is: 9305.20.05

I have shipped stocks, barrels, bolts, triggers, magazine, springs and other gun parts to the U.S. with never any problem when filling out shipping labels correctly. The restrictions only apply to a complete firearm or the receiver.
 
Recommendation for protecting vulnerable areas of the stock, as stated above, are good.
I always use a stiff cardboard box with a minimum of 2 inches extra padding in each dimension.
Bubble wrap and then styrofoam peanuts around the stock to fill the box.
Kind of belt and suspenders approach, but better safer than sorry.

And no, it has not always worked against the abuse of the postal system. I have had sharp puncture to a box on rare occasion.
