So, after a couple hours at the range this morning with my rifles i got to thinking about carrying a spare mag with the SU-22. I know people have done some wacky stuff in the past, such as buying SU-16 mags for ammo storage etc etc.
When I got home and started cleaning the rifles, I took a spare mag and started playing with it in the stock of the SU. I could nearly get it to fit so I decided i'd take the time to strip it down and see what could be done.
A couple of cuts with a razor knife and a few modifications to the retaining pins and I now have a stock that carries a spare 25 round magazine! It took me all of about 15 minutes to do (minus the trigger pack, that took an hour to put back together!)
Pretty awesome if i do say so myself! It's in there pretty good and takes a good yank to unseat from the pins, i doubt there will be issues with it dropping out unexpectedly.
Have a look! These are the BlackDog Machine X-Form 25Rd mags. I've highlighted the area's I cut to make it work!
Cut at the orange highlights to allow the mag to sit flush.
