How to stop pins from shifting on Ruger 22/45?

I've been having an odd problem with my 22/45 over the last few sessions. I noticed that as I'm shooting, the pins that hold the internals of the handgun (i.e. sear, hammer, etc) shift to the left, causing the parts to fall out of alignment. I would say the straw that broke the camels back was recently when the two pins that hold the shooting mechanism both shifted and caused the entire gun to seize up, jamming the bolt and not allowing the cartridge casing to eject. It was easy to fix when I got home but this was a dangerous situation at the range. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to prevent this?

Maybe check and confirm that the pins are in the right way and that the springs are properly locking the pins in to place. You should be able to hear when a pin/spring locks in place.

Just my 2 cents

Good luck

I sent mine to the Ruger repair facility centre (It's in Quebec, somewhere) on the 22nd of March. Still waiting. Last I heard they were waiting for parts.

Location Snap Shots inc.
650, rang Roy
Sainte-Martine (Québec)

Tel. (450) 427-0052

That's to whom the Ruger people told me to send my gun.

A friend had the same problem with his MkIII 22/45. He bought it new and noticed the problem a couple months later. He returned it to the store who then sent it in for warranty. You won't want to hear this 3strokes, it took over a year to get it back. :( It's all fine and dandy now, but he wasn't impressed with the turnaround time. Luckily for him I'm a nice friend. In the mean time I let him shoot my .22 during my center fire shooting time.
