Hello All,

Anyone out there run into Winchester 40 cal pistol brass with crimped primers.

How do I swag pistol brass? Is it worth it? What tool can i buy to remove teh crimped primer pockets?

I've never seen 40 S&W with crimped primers but if you do have some I wouldn't bother with them as 40 S&W without crimps is readily available and usually free at the range if you just pick it up.
If you really want to do it, Dillon Precision makes a really good primer pocket swager and RCBS makes one that is cheaper.

I ue a plain old counter sink in a drill press for my cripmed in stuff.
I have a couple 1000 once fired Winchester non-crimped if your interested,$30/1000+shipping.

If I look in the primer pocket there looks to be a brass ring that prevents the insertion of a new primer. So does the chamfer tool just remove the ring or make the primer pocket bigger so it will insert a new primer?

It just removes the ring crimp on the edge. The primer pocket itself doesn't need to be enlarged.

I clamp my electric drill in a vice, with a 3/8" champfer tool ($6.00 at Home Depot) running. I then take a bucket of deprimed brass and touch each one long enough to champfer the mouth of the primer pocket.

I have done buckets of military rifle brass this way. very fast -and cheap.
