Hi Guys,
I'm new to the site and new to Swiss Arms rifles. Thanks to my uncle (who is a member here) I just bought my first Swiss Arms rifle. I got a couple of 30 rounders from the store I bought the rifle from, along with the five rounders, but was looking for some original 20 rounders for prone shooting.
My uncle's mags have SIG in an oval cast into the sides of his, along with triangular/diamond shape with WEZ inside it on the opposite side. Date of manufacture is one the same side and on the bottom. I find the same markings on the factory mags I got with my rifle.
My uncle warned me about knock-offs floating around on the used market and to be forewarned when buying. I'm aware of the Can-Am magazines and have no issues with them. They seem to offer good value for the money, just as long as they are being properly represented. Unfortunately, they aren't available in 20 rounders.
I was just wondering what other styles or types of factory markings might I encounter in my quest? I saw one guy at the range the other day. He was rerally great and took tons of time to chat and show me his Swiss Arms kit. He had what he said were genuine factory magazines, but they weren't marked "SIG" anywhere.
However, they did have what looked like a stylized "S" cast with six sides, with an "H" superimposed over it on the rigth side, with "12520" a "1" then "80" inside a cirle with slashes all around it.
On the bottom, there was stamped "90" surrounded by the 12/3/6/9 clock positions and a line pointing to 8. Also had a P, a 1 and L cast into the base plate. The others were marked much the same, with only the date on the bottom changing. I jotted down notes, because I forgot my camera, so that I could compare the markings to others I have access to.
He had others that had the oval SIG trademark on them in both 20 rounders and 30 with various dates on the bottoms, the same as my 30 rounders.
Any SIG experts want to share their wisdom with a newbie? I really love this rifle and want to learn all I can about the arcana involved, not only to keep from getting ripped off, but for the pure joy of learning all things Swiss! Yes, I drank the Swiss Arms Kool-Aid!
