I've got a Rock River Arms 6-position buttstock that I want to sell on the EE, but I don't know if its milspec or commercial..

Edit: I'm asking about the stock alone...not the buffer tube!

How does one tell which it is?

Measuring is the best way to tell.
Typically the commercial has a slant on the end. The threads on a commercial are typically flush, they aren't quite flush on a milspec.

Sorry, if your question is about the stock itself and not the tube then measuring is best... Or just try it on a commercial tube. Mil spec won't fit on a commercial tube.

If you dont have a vernier caliper or another measuring instrument to measure the bore, then you can get creative. Like he said if you have any tubes around that you know are mill or commercial, try fitting your stock onto it to figure out what you have...

The answer is in the PIC. Your stock goes over the buffer tube so measure in inside diameter of the stock and compare to the image to see which one you have
