How to tell what shape your bore is in?

How do you tell what shape your bore is in?

Any signs of wear to look for?

Better yet, is there some awesome tool to see into the barrel with?

Kind of curious as I have an older firearm that seems to be a little hit and miss!

Crown, mostly. You can buy a guage, or put a bullet in the muzzle, and if it drops down, you need a recrowning.

Huh ????? If the bullet drops down you need a new barrel not just a recrowning.........
