How to tell what Swedish Mauser I have?

Just out of curiosity, I crunched some numbers in the Sierra ballistics program. Used the Sierra 140gr softpoint boat tailed bullet. At 400 metres, the difference in drop is about 5 1/2", 2500fps vs 2650fps. That isn't a whole lot of difference.

It is about 400 ft/lbs of energy difference too.

2700fps is 6.5 creedmor numbers

Other stuff got in the way tonight for photos but I took a look and unless there is another company that starts with "HUSQ" it is a husky, so I assume a model 38.

Anyone see any issues with the published loadings as max? I just want to get a little more than the 2500fps from the factory stuff.

2650 fps with a good bullet and hoping to be able to make a 400 yard deer gun.

What may be a safe max load in one rifle may not be in another. You need to work up from the starting load watching for pressure signs, then back off.

Most 140 gr max loads run in the vicinity of 2500 fps. If the barrel is shorter than the normal 24 inches there will be some velocity loss. The 6.5 Swede with a 140 gr bullet should be a good deer killer out to 300 yds assuming proper bullet placement, and this is about all one needs in a hunting situation.

Husky actually made 96's as well, but my understanding is they were produced for the FSR civilian marksmanship organization.
I have a sporter Husky 1944 96 in a Boyd's stock with Timney trigger that will shoot wonderful groups.
I also have an all-matching 1943 M38 and a 1916 Carl Gustav FSR 96 that I have no worries shooting.
