Can anyone help.

I am just curious as to what some of the markings stamped on my Enfield. I sure hope they are not special because it has been sporterized.

I know it is an Enfield No. 4 chambered in .303 BRIT.

Anyway here are some photos. Any help would be appreciated.

So the BNP under the crown onthe barrel and on the reciever would indicate

Birmingham Nitro Proof after 1954

and the S on the barrel would indicate Savage.

I don't see anything refering to the BZ 18242 on the wrist portion or the DP on the stock?

When I get home tonight I will se if there are any other markings on the rifle.

The BZ and number would be the serial number. DP is drill purpose.

It's a ROF Maltby No.4 Mk1 , and also with what looks like a MiddleEastern scrip on it in a couple photos.
Is the S , thats on the barrel , accompainied by an arrow beside it ?
Need a better pict of that , if it's possible.
I'd say it's a Matby that was sold by the Brits to an allied MiddleEastern country...but not sure which one.

I will check tonight and post a better pic later. I am at work right now.

"...the DP on the stock..." Indicates it's a Drill Purpose rifle.
BNP 18.5 tons per Sq Inch is what it was proofed for before leaving England. That'd be the standard.
That rifle is rusted and likely pitted as well.
