How well are the x39 XCR rifles holding up?

So those who have put a lot of x39 rounds through their XCR's, how are your rifles holding up?
Any issues?
Bolts and extractors doing well?
Round counts?
Surplus ammo working well?

I think it was 9x19p that did some long term reviews of his X39 XCR. Seems to be doing fine after 10,000 rds.

Yeah look in the black rifles thread for his extensive review. I think his op rod broke but otherwise it ran like a champ

I have put about 2k worth of corrosive and non corrosive ammo through my Keymod version. Aside from the gas block coming loose I have bad no issues.

I love the rifle and think it handles and points very well. It's easy to clean (not as easy as a CZ858) and is well made.

What are you guy's doing for a quick clean with the corrosive ammo with a complete stripping. Looking at buying one of these in key mod with light barrel. Pricey guns but seem to hold up.7.62 ammo is much easier and cheaper to get than 223.

Hey Steiner, my rifle has a few rounds through it now, it's holding up well
.
Issues; the only issues I've had were mag related. Easily fixed. I've had breakdowns, but that's different than "issues". ;)

Bolt and extractor; The bolt shows some wear, the cam is a little shiny. The extractor is huge, you won't break it. Zuk broke his :), but he's the exception.

Round count; 12,800 +/-100, I can get you an exact count if you want.

Surplus ammo; It always goes bang, but groups poorly. It's center of mass ammo, not moa ammo.

I've had the op-rod break, the replacement was a new design.
The firing pin spring broke. It was a small piece of the end loop. No explanation for it, but found it the first time I stripped the bolt.
I broke the hammer spring. The cause is known, enough said. The optional "heavy duty" spring was not oe.

The gun has some rattles now. I recently played with a newer gun, it was a lot tighter. Deer can hear me a mile away.

I'd buy it again.

9x19 I appreciate your reply.
Sounds like RA did a good job on their x39 version. The bolt does have some good meat to it.
Yeah, when it comes to surplus ammo, I only expect center of mass and not MOA.
The last statement sums up your review nicely.

Mine is the 5.56/.223 version, keymod, type2/gen2 Rifle but the basic cleaning is the same idea. Hope this helps you out.

I love my XCR, I can shoot it in the back yard, kids like shooting it because of low recoil and the short FAST stock fits them perfectly. Not sure of round count since I bought it used, but I have put about 500 through it without cleaning and it still works perfectly.

For me, hot water.
I stick the muzzle in the sink and spray hot water down the barrel and gas tube. More water on the op-rod and gas valve. Hang to dry and oil 'er up.
I do a complete strip every 2k or so.

Moisture can get trapped between the muzzle brake and barrel. Watch for it.

I don't really keep track of rounds but know I've gone through one Czech crate and I bet close to a second one. So I'm going to say 2k rounds through mine

No issues at all with the gun itself. Everything still looks new including the little rubber stop dealy at the rear at the receiver. The pistol mags are a bit finicky with the X39 platform. I do seem to have one mag that is worse than the others though. Seems that with 9 rounds they work a lot more reliably. I had stoppages at a match because I had the gas setting wrong. Seems that you can use a more conservative gas setting once the rifle is warmed up than cold. What I had done was go to the lowest gas setting during a range session and left it there. Running cold it would not cycle until I move the gas plug one setting (at the moment I forget if 1 or 4 is the highest setting but my rifle works well on the second most conservative setting).

It's an accurate rifle at 200 yards ringing gongs with an Eotech all afternoon long. I chronyed some Czech ammo once and the velocity spread of it was less than any of the factory .223 I had on hand. I've been saying for a year now that I'm going to mount my Nightforce scope on it one afternoon to see what it can really do with that ammo. Hmm...kinda nice out right now. Hmmm.... :)

When I shoot it I'm usually hunkered down for a full afternoon at the range so my cleaning regime includes taking he barrel off and doing a good clean with boiling water followed by copper de-fouler and a generous application of oil. Not a single of spec of rust anywhere on the rifle - just like my CZ858.

The XCR is good but it's not AR15 good. I'm really looking forward to hearing from guys once the Modern Hunter from ATRS is out for mass consumption.
