Hello all,
So what is the secret on getting the best deals on ammo? I'm looking to stock up on 9mm, .22 and 12 ga.. I don't ever see them go on sale at the local gun shops. I've seen some threads were people have seen them marked down at Canadian Tire or Walmart... How often does that happen? It would seem to me that ordering online might be expensive because of the shipping charges is that the case?

Usally every months or so the walmart here has some sort of ammo on sale, just gotta keep checkin ... last year they marked all they're federal ammo way way down, 3 inch 12ga steel $4, Slugs $3, Buckshot $3, .308 180gr $5, and so on, i bought most what was there ....

"...is that the case?..." Yep. Shipping charges are set by the carrier, not the retailer and are based on weight, the size of the package and distance. Plus hazmat fees.
Your local gun shop can and will order anything you want, in whatever amount you want. (Forget Crappy Tire or Wally World. A bulk order request will confuse them.) Most will give you a better price for bulk orders, but be prepared to pay up front.
However, don't buy in bulk if you haven't found the ammo your firearms shoot best. Especially for a .22. Lots of shooters buy .22 ammo by the case(5,000 rounds. Not exactly cheap. Several hundred.), but not until they know what brand shoots best and cycles the action of a semi-auto.
Reloading will make the endless search for the best price for 9mm and 12 guage ammo go away. Different equipment though.

Thanks for the tips guys. Can any Vancouver CGN'er recommend a local shop that has the best deals on bulk ammo orders?

Italain or Reliable is a toss up. Some things are cheaper at one and some are cheaper @ the other one.

Anyone have success trying to buy/arrange a bulk ammo purchase through Wholesale? I have tried several times and each time it was no. Seems they like to sell by the single boxes only.
