How would you rate the "shootability" of a Glock 21?

I'm adding this one to my "To Buy" list. I really like shooting .45 ACP, but I'm not sure about whether I'll keep my 1911. My Glock 17 just feels better in my hand. I have handled a Glock 21 and though it's a tiny bit bigger than my 17, it felt good.

So, how does it compare to a 1911? I'm interested in how controllable it is, how much muzzle rise, et cetera. Basically, performance based criteria. I don't need any aesthetically based comments, and they will be dismissed out of hand.

Thanks.

I have the 21SF and it's a pussycat to shoot. Way softer/quicker back on target than any 1911 i've shot (with full power loads). Recoil is more of a push, than the snap of a 9mm or .40

If you have 'big mitts' the G20 & G21 are good to go.

NAA.

Also, Glock has put out a long slide .45acp. The model 41 I think it is.
Should be reallly reallly reallly nice. Hmmm

Does the 41 ever shoot like a dream!

Personally I'd prefer if the grip was more like a Beretta 92 with Hogue grips on it, but I did not have option to change back strap or anything as the pistol I got to shoot is a range gun.

change the trigger i have a 3 pound not a 3.5 disconnector, recoil spring if you get a crappy one, get some good sights and buy ammo in bulk because dumping 700 rounds in one sitting doesnt take very long at all. its a pussy cat, its smooth, and it gets nicer and nicer as you shoot more thru it. 200 rounds go in less then 10 mins and loading mags takes longer then shoting them, my hands dont hurt but my finger is black afterwards lol its expensive to shoot because its so much freaking fun :)

and i love the low thump it makes when you shoot it, its addicting. with all the money ive shot thru it i could of bought an hk 45 , sig p227, and an sti 1911 and took pics and said o look at my pretty guns. instead i have a glock 21 gen 4 that runs like a race horse and steel shakes when i take it out .

^This. One hit and it's comin' down. The LEO i shot alongside at my BB joked about the "asteroid sized shell casings" that kept landing at his feet and bouncing off his cap.

I grabbed a Gen3 G21 as a brand-new shooter and questioned my own sanity, but a few thousand rounds and a few purchases later, I still shoot my G21 better than I shoot several 9mm pistols. It's no worse than my Ruger 9mm or Jericho 9mm for felt recoil or muzzle flip, and I have small-to-medium hands - on paper, it's too big for me, but it just works. I actually really like the stock sights, too - I have the standard fixed sights and they point easy and make acquisition simple. Can't go wrong, especially if you're going Gen4 the grip will be smaller than my Gen3.
