Tell that to my grandfather. Having killed several Nazis at 600 yards plus is a hell of a confidence booster when you're shooting moose at sub-100 yards.
One mag is all I had! Normally, I like to have at least 2 for every rifle I own that has a removable mag. I had started a thread earlier about where to source out a second mag, but hadn't had time to pursue it further before hunting season was upon me.

I mostly hunt with single shot rifles now last 8 deer have been shot with them = I understand the one bullet concept but I always take extra bullets with me.
Re detachable mags I like to take 2 - 3 depends on there capacity I still carry more bullets than what are in the mags though example my Ruger American in 450 Bushmaster I have two 3 round mags for it but I still have 6 rounds in a butt stock ammo holder 3 that are the same as what are in my mags and three heavy 355gr hard cast thumper loads.
If for some reason I lose the mag like the OP did I am still good to go as a single shot.

need to know this too my grandfather killed a few back in WW1 when he was in the trenches - would use two bolt guns one had a flash hider the other one didn't he would go 10-12 feet fire the one without the flash hider then use the other one to kill them. He also stormed the enemy trenches and did them old school with the bayonet on the end of the rifle - my uncles did the same in WW2 all survived the conflict.
Well, he claimed he was a sniper, but Grandma (who was a bit of a badass in the AWACS herself) would scoff and say that everyone was a sniper back then. Either way, he was in the First Canadian Parachute Battalion.
