Has anyone got experience with the Howa/Rem 700 "Ammo Boost" removable magazine unit? Models are available for the Howa 1500 series of rifles as well as the Rem 700 actions.

Saw some good reviews on the net. I'm just concerned that they are polymer and not steel. Mags available in 5 or 10 rds.

They work well. I've changed out my Weatherby's using these conversion kits. They're well made, don't worry about the polymer part, I've used them at -30 bumping them off trees with no issues. The only thing I don't like about them is where the mag release is. It's easy to bump and drop the mag, so have to be careful in that regard.

That is the draw back with a lot of detachable magazines. I lost one of my 788 mags accidentally. Fortunately I always carry a spare.

What in hell are you doing out there in -30 temps? That's 'hunker in the bunker' weather.

Where did you buy it?

Got mine from Prophet River.

And it wasn't really by choice haha. I only had a week to down a moose, and I had to hunt with the weather I was given!
