I'm looking to purchase a Howa Mini Action 7.62x39 W/ 20" Heavy Barrel. I'm having a difficult time locating one. If anyone know of one that is available, new or used, please let me know. Thanks

Thank you for the responses. I'm looking for just the standard rifle with a synthetic stock. Not the high priced one. As far as the magazines go, I'm going to go with a Jefferson bottom metal and CZ magazines. Probably put the barrelled action in a B&C stock while I am at it. I just need to find the rifle to make it happen.

They have 20" Grendels in stock right now for a great price. Man, I really debated between that and the 7.62 but cheaper steel case won out lol.

Pretty reasonable for the 5.56...the 7.62s are outta stock.

Maybe there are some around for similar prices, I haven't looked in a while but would be good news for the guys who want to stay with that system.

the cz magazines in 223 feed the howa mini quite nicely with the jefferson's bottom metal.
B&C stock is on my too buy list as well, the factory stock is pretty weak

FYI - Magazines are hard to find for that rifle

..... and are easy to lose given the shoddy method they are held in place.

I bought one used a few years ago and sold it right away without ever firing it. The 1st time I picked it up I bumped the mag release and dropped a mag on the floor.

I would avoid them.

Never happened to me although I was conscious of how I handled it thanks to posts like these.

That said...bloody hate the arrangement. Its otherwise a great rifle. I consider it worth the upgrade. Much more so a few years back when they weren't damn near a G to buy but then nothing really got cheaper.

Don't avoid them. The solution is to change the bottom metal, and add CZ magazines.

Or go with the Ruger Ranch, unless you want to sink twice the money into the thing to not have a feeding system that sucks. But now they cost quite a bit more too.

The CZ mag looks like a way to keep detachable mags and actually pay a lot for mags that don't suck though. It looks cool

I don't want the Ruger. It looks and feels so cheap. What I really wanted was a CZ, but of course they stopped making them. The Howa is the rifle I want. Sure the upgrades are expensive, but if I think about it, there is not one firearm I have or have had that I did not need or want to upgrade to some extent.

Right on, if you think its worth it, giver! Its what you want that counts.

I understand the perception of the Ranch. Took a while shooting many of the American rifles here to get over it as well but their performance got me over it.

You're bang on about the performance of the Ruger rifle. There are a lot of YouTube videos that sing its praises. Maybe they will grow on me too. Never say never, cause that is what I said about Glocks, and now I own three.
