Howa(Mossberg) 1500 ->300Win Mag......Opinions.?

Anyone on this site have one?

It has a synthetic stock, and a muzzlebreak......

Went out yesterday, shot a friends 300 win mag(muzzlebreak'd) and elephant gun......

I do like the 300 win mag much better than a 12guage.

I am SERIOUSLY contemplating this gun as I found one locally for a good price, package deal.

Looking for an Elk, maybe even a Moose......

I have the Smith and Wesson one in 270. I find it to be a good rifle. They are the same company that makes the weatherby vanguard so its a good rilfe. I like the 300 Win Mag and you wouldnt have any problems taking either a moose or an elk with it. Just do your job and it will do its.

I am 90% sure about it. The kickback on the 300 winmag wasn't too bad.

Now I just have to get myself to a range and practice for the fall......

Get the serial number checked due to a recall. The gun can fire upon closing the bolt, without pulling the trigger.

Otherwise it is a fine rifle.

The website is http://www.regcen.com/howa/ .They list the affected serial numbers there and it contains info on how to get the bolt fixed if needed.

Great rifles. I had a 338 that I had a brake put on, and it does make things better recoil wise. For a 300 I would suggest the same.

It has the muzzle break.

I called up that recall hotline, and this gun is affected.

It's simply a matter of unscrewing the rear section of the bolt and replacing

it with the revised version.

I am going to get it on Sunday........
