Welcome to CGN from the South Cariboo. Check out the hunting sub forum for some ideas. Also, follow the rules and you will be granted access to the Equipment Exchange.Hi everyone, new to the forum. Just getting into hunting, I'm 20 and from the lower mainland looking for my first all round BC game rifle. Let me know if you got one you're interested in selling! also if this type of post isn't allowed here let me know.
Thanks all. Mainly looking at deer and elk right now. Probably do a fair amount of island blacktail to start out. Those are pretty much the calibers I was looking at so thanks for the confirmation there.Welcome to nutz maxpri. What is your intended species for chasin down? Lots of great calibres out there but depending on loading or just buying will or should have an influence on your choice. Many calibres are found almost everywhere but many are rare or handload options only. 243,270,30-30,308 and 30-06 are the most readily available and all will serve quite well depending on what your chasing? Greetings from SEOntario
Thanks! For your first hunting rifle, pick a common caliber that has somewhat more affordable ammunition. My personal goto for a first hunting rifle would be in 308 Win. Ammo available almost everywhere and not too expensive. Will take any game in B.C. (other than Bison). Then decide what make and model. Gun stores are your best place here. Gives you a chance to shoulder many rifles. Look for one that has consignments, for budgeting purposes. Then get out and practice, practice, practice.
