Hey guys

Saw a Model 58 for sale. 30-30 with a 20G barrel.

Condition is good overall. Only thing I can see lacking is the finish on the stock set is faded/worn

I cannot find to much about these older H&Rs but have heard that they are fairly accurate with the 30-30.

Guy wants $450 for the set but not sure if this is a good price or not.

Appreciate any thoughts on these and whether they are worth that much.

That's not bad , as long as it locks up tight and has a good bore . I'm looking for something along the same lines . I gave my old Savage 219 in 30/30 to a family member and now realise how handy that type of firearm is . If it's just cosmetic wear on the stock , buy it . If you don't want to buy it , shoot me a PM and I will lol .

I get 1/2" or better groups from a 158 30-30 4 X scope. It was a trainer for my boys .........you get one shot don't miss.

Check each barrel. If it was ordered as a set each barrel should have same Serial# . If they do not have the same be carefull of the lock up. When the barrels close , the barrel wedge and latch should mate up at same angles for proper lock up. Ive seen some pop open after being fired because of not enough engagement.

That would be the original factory set... there was also a Ducks Unlimited version of the 158 .30-30/20 GA. Set... $450 is fair... it is a very handy little rig, I would go for it. There are also aftermarket stock options if you so choose.
