HS Precision Pro 2000 SPR

I have no experience with this rifle because I waited a year and a half to get it and it never showed up. I ended up getting a Sako TRG 42 instead and am better off for it.

I doubt you will have to worry about the quality. If I were going to lay down $2200 to 3000 for a rifle that meets my specification - like the HS, I would buy it before I built up a Remington 700. I feel you will probably get the best bang for your money that way. It is a quality custom action which does retain value.

Now if I wanted a special twist, or special chamber or barrel length or chambering or stock, that would be a different story......

Actually I just bought one which has arrived @ its new home. Very happy with it!! Action is smooth, "I can't believe its not butter"!! Nice tight turn down on bolt, very well put together, and fit / finish is also superb. Pro2000 HTR w/26" barrel 1:12 twist, Harris bipod, Badger hardware, Nightforce 3.5-15 NSX with Mil-Dot reticle. Just ordered the Tactical Interventions M24 Sling for it. The only killer is the rings that were sent were one size to small to mount the 50mm scope so I'm just waiting for the proper rings to get things mounted. Then it will be on to barrel break in, and zero for scope.

I love getting new toys!! This one is going to be cool. I'll post some pics and review when I get some good range time in with it. It will beat the hell out of my old rifle anyways. Now I guess I'll have to put more effort into the nut behind the but so I don't make the rifle look bad!! LOL :D

Hunting buddy of mine bought one, waited forever for it, and when it showed up and he started to shoot it, the barrel started unscrewing itself from the receiver (I guess it was never actually torqued into place). Whoops! Must have been a Friday or Monday gun. Once that little problem was taken care of, it shot, really, really well, but I expected better quality control for the money. Still, everyone has off days, they made good on it, and as I said, it shoots like a house 'afire, as they say. - dan

Well that would certainly be "inconvenient"!! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it just shoots like a dream and stays away from any barrel type problems such as the one you stated. Who knows, may be the barrel man tossed back a few that afternoon?? :D :D

There are apparently 4 HS Rifles in Canada right now, and they are becoming hard to get. This comes from a dealer that checked for me last Monday....I assume he called the distributer....as he called someone while I stood there.

Now that I have one sitting on my coffee table I must say that I am very happy with fit and finish. Now I have to mount and bore sight scope. I'll post pics and range report once the sucker is broken in.

Backwoods, I've personally seen 6 different HS rifles at a distributors warehouse. I worked a trade show this last weekend, and I've got to tell you, I was impressed with the quality of the rifle for the price. Impressed enough at least to put my order in for one.

bbartsch,

Originally I was about .5 seconds away from purchasing a Accuracy International AE series rifle for $3845.00. I managed to get my hands on one and shoot with it for a bit. Very nice gun however there are no adjustments to the stock of the AE series, only the higher end rifles from AI. Nice piece of equipment but did not fit my shooting position and cheek weld at all, good to find out prior to spending lots of $$$.

The HS has a solid adjustable stock, very well made reliable action which on mine is as smooth as some $6000 rifles I have used, and a top quality barrel. To boot I got it for much less that the AI. Got some nice optics and away we go!!

Great gun for the money. Congrats on the purchase.

H-S Precision Pro 2000

There's one less available - a .300 WSM sporter caught my fancy. Actually, it's a present from my wife and son for completing an M.Sc. degree. I'll provide a range report at a later date.

Again, P&D Enterprises in Edmonton has at least 6 or 7 in stock..

If there are only 4 HS rifles in Canada they must not be counting the seven we currently have in stock. We have already sold twenty guns from the last shipment. Yes the first shipment took forever as HS had problems with the paper work. They have promised 200 guns for Canada this year and considering the produce about 25 guns a week this seems realy fair. We have several more now ordered and expect delivery on some models in the next couple of months. Aslo our TRG 42's were ordered over a year ago and they still havent arrived (apparently now in Canada).

Phil, its good to see the excellent selection of rifles and equipment you are bringing into your Edmonton store. These rifles offer excellent value and there is a nice market for them. It is great to see an off the shelf alternative for those wanting a high quality rifle. Thankfully HS Precision haven’t gone into the truly custom offerings or special order options yet……or have they?

Well I finally figured out how to post pics,

Here she is.

Since pic I have added Badger Tactical Bolt knob and 10 round mags.

I have only had it out to 300m so far. Around where I am the 500m range is a 2hr drive each way. There is a group of guys with a private 1000m range I'm trying to get on, or I might have to look up Mysticplayer and get out to where he shoots down south.

300m with 168gr sierra matchking will punch the same hole, makes nice little clover patterns. I'll post some pics now that I fugured out how.

100m is a waste of time with it.

A while ago Long Range Canuck made a post about some minor stock modifications highly recommended my Mcmillan Sniper school regarding the HS stocks. (A fancy glass bedding jod, where the barrel channel is opened up a little more, etc). I had this done when I had the tactical bolt knob done. (TOP NOTCH work performed by "he who shall not be mentioned" from the Republic of Alberta). After the work, the 300m groups look like the 100m groups so I'm looking forward to getting out to 500-600m.

I planned on attending the BCRA Precision Rifle Tactical Championships June 24-25 in Chilliwack BC, as my first official competition with the new rig and put it, (and myself), through its paces but my partner has since bailed due to work reasons.

I'll post some targets when I get a chance to photograph them.
