So I've been offered an HS Precision Pro 2000 HTR in 308 for $2500. I know brand new these rifles go for stupid money but just wondering on people's thoughts on them. Has about 500 rounds down the barrel, shoots like a hot damn with factory match ammo. Just wondering if it's worth the asking price used.

This isnwhat the rifle looks like:

Do you like it? then get it

Personally I am not a fan of HS precision rifles. Essentially a glorified Rem 700 IMO

The muzzle break pictured is awful if you shoot prone. Gilled is much better

There's lots of other options in that price range. a Tikka in a nice chassis, or a Sako S20.

not that I'm anti HS precision, but for me a would pick a plethora of other aftermarket stocks vs those

Seen what an H.S. Precision rifle costs today? Your right, stupid $$$. I think $2500 is a very good price. Geez, Savage wants that much for their carbon fibre barreled rifles. Go for it!

HS precision are very nice, well made and accurate rifles. Bolt operation is very smooth. The only down side is the really small bolt knob. It should be larger in my opinion, and not sure why they keep them so small?

Agreed!

Have a tikka and had an S20. And I have more than a couple Remington 700 precision rifles. Just looking into something "different" that what everyone else has.

I was thinking the same thing looking at it.

Outside of the "proprietary" mag issue, I think it's a good deal. Buy it. There rifles have an excellent reputation & if??? you did have an issue, they would take care of you.
BTW some "reviewers" say that stock is "superior" to there M24 for the LOP adjustment? IIRC the Israeli army use them.

I actually wanted an M24 but the current going rate for one is $5,000

Ya I hear ya, as a "lefty" I felt left out, LOL when a few showed up. IIRC HS keeps a record of the headspace on there rifles, so when a barrel change is needed or wanted? you can get a replacement from them with the correct headspace, pretty nice feature. Post some pics and a target when you get it OK, Thanks in advance. Cheers

The hs will be accurate and function well. It won’t be the newest trendy looking rifle, most seem to be going to a chassis rifle these days. And the HS stock is comfortable to be behind it doesn’t meet the newest standards. They are a very good action, especially if you like a 3 position safety. Kind of a blend of a rem 700 and a win m70. The bolt release and safety are winnie, m16 extractor, two lug and rem footprint. The bottom metal is high quality, but limited in mag selection.

If its in nice shape I would say go for it.

Had three now, an HTR, a Varmint/Thumbhole, and the PHL, and got rid of all of them. The first H-S rifles were rebarreled Rem700s and Win70s. The current H-S is a 700 clone, nice rifles but way overpriced. I feel a better deal is a custom build on a Rem700 action as it will provide exact specifications and preferences for half the price, if not even less, than a new H-S Precision.

It’s being offered to him at $2500.
What complete rifle can you build for $2500?
As stated he already has “more than a couple of Remington rifles”

Ouch.
Wasn't Troy trying to use him in marketing a few years back and that blew up in their face?

That was either Jody Weiss or Dale Monroe, equal grades of murderous psychopath who were also there that day.

You couldn't PAY me enough to take an H-S, even if it had the keys to a Boneyard B-52 in flyaway condition and the aircraft title tax-free ziptied to the stock. And given how long I've wanted to turn a B-52 into my own personal private R&D Lab like a flying Lego set, that's saying a LOT...

Personally I don't care who used the rifle for what. Hell I own WWII German rifles that could very well have been used to commit atrocities.
