HSM 6.5x55 is HOT!

If you thought only Norma loaded hot 6.5x55 ammo…

I picked up some HSM ammo loaded with 130gr Berger VLD’s as I wanted to see if they were accurate in my Tikka. I only fired one three shot group but had to do a double take on the Chrony (which works well, its not defective): average for three shots = 2960fps!! That’s heading into .270Win territory. It clearly states 'For Modern Rifles' and I was thinking it might go 2750-2800fps but that is some fast 6.5x55 factory ammo!

I would not shoot it in an older 96 Mauser.

Hot for older guns, but right in there for modern pressures. I had a Sako 75 in 6.5 that I hunted with for a few years and I was shooting 129 gr Hornady SST's at 2950 FPS. Pressure was comparable to other modern factory rounds.

Norma Diamond Line runs its 130 gr moly coated bullets right up there too for use in 300m competition. Good to see someone making 6.5x55 to Skan specs.
