When I grow up, (or retire soon) I aspire to be a long range shooter. I got to find me crown land for starters as the 250 yards of our club range has become dull. I have a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44. I have been looking for a new scope. Today in Cabela's I had the chance to look through the 6-24 HST and the 5-25 PST Gen ll. It is hard to pick while in the store at about 30 yards. The PST reticle (ebr7) is sure busy when zoomed in all the way. I have seen hst's used for 800ish and the PST's for 12-1300ish. I might have just lived with the 6.5-20 but have been hot scoping between my .223 Tikka and my 6.5 Creedmoore, so could use another scope anyway.
Thoughts on good value/performance of either at say 600 yards?? Does ffp or sfp reticles matter if you are ranging with a laser?
Struggling to choose so any free advice is appreciated.
