Theres this New Brazeing rod called HTS 2000 looks good on Ytube Vids and the pics and the Adds make it look great for small or big Alum repairs.

Anyone here at CGN try it ?
Its $65 US a 1 LB case of Rods.

I was gona try it on a 1.5 inch Alum tubes for a Roof rack on my Tracker but i bet theres Gun aplications for it to.

It Brazes with a Propane torch at about 700 Degrees.
Maby someone can post a link about the stuff it looks like handy thing for Black gunnuts ect.

Im building a Retractable Stock on and over and under savage 30 30 over a 20 Ga with this stuff i could maby use Alum Rods instead of steel keep the thing lighter.
Check it out just Google HTS 2000 Alum Repair. :)

See if you can find an MSDS sheet for it. Should tell you what's in it.

Probably zinc, or mostly zinc.

Don't trust it to hold anything you'd miss if it was gone!

There are eutectic alloy aluminum welding/brazing rods out there that are quite expensive, and require use of a flux.

Another option (also expensive, for a reason, like 'worth it') is to look at the Tin Man site, and look at his stuff on torch welding aluminum.

I once repaired a broken bell housing for a Buick aluminum V-8 using this stuff and it worked out just fine. The engine was in a CJ-5 Jeep and was used HARD and the repair lasted as long as the engine did. The first application is the best. any attempt to improve seems to make things worse! Regards, Bill
