I just tried ordering two bore snakes from Brownells. The order was blocked.... can't be shipped outside of the US? Hu? How come?
This makes no sense to me. What's this about?

That makes no sense whatsoever! I've bought things like mags,recoil springs, grips etc etc from them without issue over the last few months.

Did you call or email them to ask what's going on?

The only thing that comes to mind is that maybe the bore snake manufacturer has given exclusive rights to Canada to someone here and thus restricts US sellers from shipping here.
 
If it's not a State Dept issue, it likely is due to distribution agreements with the manufacturer.

Retailers get the "come to Jesus" call from the manufacturers telling them to knock of exports or risk loosing that product line.

Ya, I know CT stocks them. This is more about me being perplexed as to why Brownells would not ship said item. That's all.

^^^This, it's the manufacturer, not Brownells or the Gov't.

Just ordered the two I needed on EBay.ca. Maybe Hoppes has been ripping us off all this time with their $25 version? Will only know once the knock offs arrive.

When Hoppes brought out the first ones they were about $15..then they sold the Viper line with a few more brass bristles and the price almost doubled.

Not sure the knock offs I just purchased have brass bristles at all? Time will tell.

Have purchased a few from China. Identical to the type sold in N.America and probably are as the packaging is identical. In any case, product is good and getting it delivered to your door for $10 is a bonus. I see now that they are even cheaper but they all appear to be color coded to the same ones here. Probably all come from the same plant anyways..
