hugh williamson precision barrels

I have not used his barrels but know a few hunters and benchrest shooters that do. They are all very accurate. I have not heard about any issues whatsoever.
IIRC he was able to make both cut and button rifled barrels.
Hugh himself is a competitive world stage BR shooter. A good ambassador for BR as well as a nice guy.

Nice to see another option, and he lists quite a few contours including some lightweights. Pricing seems roughly $100 higher than his Canadian competition.

I have used a half dozen barrels myself and installed that many more for folks in the Bench Rest game.
There are every bit as good as any of the big name barrel makers on the performance side, on the chambering side they are the straightest barrels I have used. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone especially for the competitive shooter.

Have one of his on a Panda action, LV. Go to some of the Benchrest sites, find match results, and check out equipment lists. You will find these barrels there.
They speak for themselves.

Put a new HWP barrel on my 6ppc. Looking at notes from October 26th, testing seating, + 8C, wind was 22k and gusting. Shot 2 groups in the high .1's.

HWP makes good barrels.

Excellent barrels, made by people that know what a great barrel should be capable of, if it's mounted/chambered properly. You need a really sharp reamer though. They are on the hard side.

Quick delivery as well.

If anyone knows anything about the short range BR game, there is no need to question HWP. Those of us that know him and all the time, effort and money he has put into learning about the sport are blessed to know him. He has spent a lot of time and still does with 2 of the largest in the sport. Look up Wayne Campbell and Tony Boyer. Nothing more needs to be said.

Firstly I am a hunter, shooter, reloader I am not a competitive shooter.

I have a HWP barrel in .270 installed on a 1969 M70. It is the easiest rifle I have ever worked up loads for. I was so impressed by it I ordered another in 6.5 which I have yet to shoot.

Hugh is a first rate guy, I learned more about how wind affects bullets by spending 15 minutes with Hugh at the range than I did the rest of my time shooting.

I have had barrels from two other big name manufacturers the HWP was by fair the easiest to get to shoot well.

Rick Pollock who handles the sales for Hugh is a highly skilled benchrest shooter and another great guy.

If / when I buy another barrel it will be an HWP, I would encourage anyone who is interested in a new barrel to buy HWP.
