HUH?? a DA Remington new police??

I just came accross a remington new police conversion in 38RF...

All the barrel markings (patent dates) ect are correct for a true remington...

Heres the "HUH?" part...

Its a double action!

Was this some gunsmith conversion or were there actually 38RF conversions made in DA?
 
Well i aint gona say there Wernt!
some guys say they Made repo 1875 Remingtons in Percussion model.
So who knows.
hard to see it unless it was converted to DA by some Smith.

Post some pics so we can at least see if its a BUBBA police model.

Trigger guard doesnt look like a gunsmith job... Just cant tell myself. Im not sure how they would have made a DA though cause they would have had to completely re-do the guts...I imagine some of the screw would have ended up in different places but...you never know...
 
...actually, if it's a DA only then it wouldnt be a hard modification.

...I think the fellow said it only worked in double action...maybe its because there is no single action capability. Makes sense now. just wonder if its a factory conversion or a smith jobber.

...its supposed to be a factory cartridge conversion (38rf) with a cut barrel...i guess it may be possible...
 
Im thinking that Trigger Guard is not orignal the SA trigger guards are Slightly Diffrent.

It could just seem wrong to, cause the trigger is more Forward.
Hard to say unless you had both and Orignal gun and this one side by side.
Im gona guess that Trigger guard is not Orignal tho!

My best guess is Gunsmith work.

2500 of these double action revolvers were made between 1863-1888.
They are pretty rare, anyhow I got that figure from the Blue Book of gun values.
This is not the Police revolver but rather the New Model Belt Revolver, main difference being the Police has a 5 shot cylinder and this one uses a 6 shot cylinder.
The cylinders are factory conversions as well.
