Hi! I'm looking at getting some 1 piece tapered hulls in 20ga and I noticed that Belozir has some Winchester AA's (once fired) for 20$ / 100. First of all, those *are* what I'm looking for, right? I contacted them to know if they are "in stock", as many reloading components don't seem to be in stock at the moment (I was warned about this, so it's fine).

The hulls are listed as: Winchester AA-HS 20 ga 2 3/4" once-fired hull

When I look into my Lyman book, I do not have load data for AA's, but I do have "Winchester HS or Compression Formed Plastic Cases, Fold crimp". Are they both refering to the same thing? In the interest of learning to be self-sufficiant, how would I know if these are the same?

Looking at Hodgdon's website, there is this hull available from the dropdown list: 2 3/4" winchester compression - Formed AA & HS type plastic shells. I would think they refer to the AA I want to purchase, right?
I was looking at loading International with Win 209 and WAA20. Seems I could do 3/4oz or 7/8oz, which would be great.

As always, appreciate it!

"HS" means they are the later two piece style (with base wad). I think "high strength" is the HS term. They all load the same as the very old one piece ones (maybe not exact, but close enough)- this is known as the "taper hull" style because they get narrower near the bottom inside. Finding the old single piece hulls is going to be hard- they haven't made them in a long time. I'm thinking early 2000's when it switched? The load data for Winchester hulls is good for all of these.

IF you want a one piece huill the only modern ones are the Remington ones- gun clubs, STS, nitros etc.

Personally I'm loading AAHS- never had a problem, many hulls getting quite a few loads before they start splitting at the crimp. I don't bother with the "promo" or white box hulls. They reload with the same data but the hulls are flimsy and are a bit harder to reload. Of course I have the luxury of a bin full of hulls so I can be choosy.

Finding hulls, lead and wads won't be a problem. Finding powder is a bit more of a challenge. Finding primers seems to be the challenge.

Once apon a time, the god Winchester made shotgun hulls the way they were intended, one piece , base and outer case. But then an evil accountant came and whispered in the ear of the god Winchester we can made them in two pieces for less money. To fool the shotgunner, we will call them High Strength, HS. The inside measurements and shape will be the same so he can use his old data . He won't mind.

Fix the link and note. Use only published HS data and wads they recommend for the data. I have found in 20ga hs for unique this works but other powders can get by with old aa'
I've had the best results using the Rem factory RXP wad when using Unique powder. The Winchester factory wad, or the Claybuster clone, are both too tall to give good crimps and crushed finished shells. The 20/28 powder seems fine for old aa
From BPI
the AA-HS requires new loading information, outlined here with specific wad recommendations.

Claybusters a Win wad copy is the cheapest option for wads.I have no 20ga HS hulls just the superior old style AA's and a lifetime supply of Rem Gun Club.

Super interesting read. Thanks 3macs1! Unfortunately, turns out they are no longer in stock (website wasn't up to date).

The search continues!

Watch bilozir
he ####ed me out a reloading book.
Took my credit card number& sent me the book amonth later. I sent the book back as i bought one in 3 days from the manufacturer.
He kept the book and never sent me a refund.
He sells stuff that he does not have.
I would never recommend him to anyone.
I'm an old fella 75 and i never forget a crook.

I try not to deal with him if possible. Sporteque in Montreal is also a BPI dealer. I ordered my stuff directly from BPI 2 weeks ago.Could you not put an unauthorized purchase against him with the CC company?

If they do, shipping will require that you take out another student loan. Put an add in the EE, perhaps someone will have mercy on you. Oh - in your internet travails, have you tried Hummason?
