Hungry bears in search of a meal are wandering into Northern Ontario communities in g

OMG, people are seeing bears! holy ####! and getting into their garbage and fruit trees!

quick! call out the military, worked for the ice storm!

Ontario makes me giggle.
 
Since the spring hunt was stopped the annual spring baiting has ended too. This used to feed alot more bears than were actually harvested. The extra food at a lean time was excellent for sows with cubs (who were NEVER hunted regardless what the antis say) kept the bears going until mother nature was able to produce suckers, berries, ants etc. Ending the spring hunt was a two edged sword with both edges screwing the bears.

ok, if your information about the amout baiting contributes to a bears food source is true you just put me on the side of the Anti's.

if it's influencing the population that much it should be banned.

this all being based on you statement that is..... ;)

Well thats just brilliant... lets all stop hunting, farming, driving cars and building subdivisions too. Everything we do affects the wildlife around us.
Baiting is a legitimate way to control bear numbers and is successfully used for bear management in many jurisdictions still. :p
 
when you turn off your deer feeder do the deer end up in backyards with small kids looking for a free meal?

there is a big difference between feeding predators and a farmers feild the deer eat from.

and I would love it if they stopped building sub divisions :D I don;t want every province to look like yours :D

Lived in Ottawa for 3yrs, been in BC 4. guess that makes me more BC then Ottawa?

one day I will see the light.... One day I will plant my own food plot with an automated timed corn-feeder, near peterbourough.... you and I will sip imported beer in our heated elivated tree houses, glassing for a nice fat fawn, then slay it, with our brand new .325wsm BAR's, and Reddot scopes. yes, one day all will be right in the universe ;)
 
I woudnt' be surprised if BC opened the door to bear baiting withini the next coupel of years, athough I am not sure who will bother.:p

We can already bait for everythign else here...:)
