Hungry M14 Clinic EESA Aylmer ON - Nov 9, 2013

Crazy question but is there anyone out in AB that runs these type of course/events ? I am a new m305 owner and truth be told still need to finish cleaning mine before a test fire lol ( wet behind the ears ). I spent roughly an hour going through a handfull of guns at a small shop before picking the one I took home based on all the info in the stickies. I feel like ive got a decent starting platform that theoretically will only need the minimum stuff for a fun reliable shooter. But would love an experianced person or persons to have a look and see what they think.

Yuk yuk yuk... I just did a swing through AB this July:

11 July in Cgy at TSE
13-14 July in Peace River, AB
16-19 July in Dundurn, SK

Next summer looks very busy because I've been appointed / asked to run the Precision Rifle matches here with/for the ORA (www.ontariorifleassociation.org)

So, my July might be touch and go for a cross country road trip. Hey, maybe you western dudes can convince Thomas or 45acpking to do a clinic up where you are, just gotta show him the fishing holes! :D

Cheers,
Barney

Bag of tools are all packed up. Will be spending the evening at MauseMike's place after my ice hockey (NHL tryouts) skate.

I have for sale: Op rod spring guides and op rod springs (american sized...longer)

See all of you around 0830 arrival/setup, casual start for 0900. Bring some $ for the EESA Snack bar lunch goodies! :D

Cheers and keep helping all the nooobs out there in M14 land.

Barney

I'd be up for taking my clinics on the road. Barney's filled me in on his situation and sounds like he will be ballz deep in shooting clinics this coming year. Hopefully I can make it out to one :D
I'm gonna go from retired to semi retired come january and get my m14 bench open again. If folks want me to travel for clinics, just shoot me an email and we can discuss. Not till after winter though.... Foot of snow outside already LOL will prolly see the grass again round april

And its done....

A big, big thanks to MauserMike for organizing this great event! Good people, great facility, super range. Met a bunch of great Gunnutz, swapped parts and stories, the time just flew by. The lunch alone was worth the trip! :) (They served an all you can eat cheeseburger, with fries, hotdog, a sausage, covered in fried onions with a drink...$7.00  And then there were butter tarts! ) Special shout out to Stormbringer, for interrupting his lunch to give me the VIP tour of the new ESSA clubhouse and archery range.

This was my fourth clinic, and I was amazed at how much new information I was able to pick up from the master, Hungry. When I wasn't laughing hard enough to cry. :D Hungry teaches a great course! Its always informative, often hilarious, and the skills, tips and parts passed on are always presented in a no nonsense fashion that are easily absorbed by even the most ham handed gunnut like me. Hey, I'm a computer nerd by trade, not a 'smith.

Well done MauserMike and Hungry!

ps: Inspired by MauserMike, Hungry and I had a chance to put our heads together while the group was function testing their newly PINGING rifles....evil was planned. Stay tuned. Keep tuning and tweaking those Norcs.

Was nice to meet you skeetgunner. Such a diverse group of guys, including myself (the nutty professor in real life), all united by love of the M14. The group size was perfect and included folks who drove in from as far as Montreal.

Thanks again Barney for the entertainment and for spreading the knowledge. You're a great teacher and all around guy. The basement suite remains open for the next time!

Cheers! Mike

Got the rifle out yesterday, and sighted in the new flash hider and garand sights at 100 yds with PRVI ammo. I'm sure I can do better with some different targets.

I'm very pleased with the 5 shot grouping and she pings like a tuning fork every shot.
