hunt camp bear break ins

my thoughts on shooting the bear.
Hmm, bet you have to prove it was the actual bear, and why did you have a large caliber firearm in an area inhabited by game in the off season?
Some CO's very reasonable, some, not so much.
They should have got it in writing.

Easy enough, the matching green hat and necktie gives him away every time.

Wimps I say. Consider yourselves lucky you're not dealing with a Grizz. Not much can keep them out and their diet is much more esoteric. :) One broke into a local forestry storage shed and finished off a 5 gallon pail of white paint. Went down river a ways, broke into a trappers cabin, through the roof, leaving white cow pies all over the place. Next stop was a camper, ripped the side off it. Apparently, somebody had been frying bacon and left the pan on the stove.

Grizz

They marked their bear one year, They left a spray can on a rope with peanut butter on it.
Of course any passing bear might have bitten it, but after that, the raids stopped for two years. Spray paint was everywhere. Must have been a colourful bear.

Maybe try that with a can of bear spray. The problem is getting the right bear. You'd pretty much have to catch it in the act. If I was sure it was the right bear I'd have no problem disposing of it under a 3-S program.

This is actually a good idea, because a can of bear spray could be left inside the cabin where only the suspect bear would get it. Of course after a bit the mice would clean off the peanut butter. But it would still smell enough for a bear to bite it.
