Got back from South-Africa recently after a 5 day hunt. All in all it set me back $3000.00 US including my plane ticket, taxidermy was extra.

This was the very first animal i hunted in South-Africa and tracked myself in the African bush. day 2

Impala

Not an extremely big Warthog, but i am happy with it, shot on day 3

Young Onyx shot on day 5, they are smaller in the bush than the ones in the Kalahari.

Next year April-ish just as the worst heat wears of I am going back for a few weeks! It'll involve copious amounts of Brandy/Castle and lots of bang-bang-dead Kudu!

Nice hunt man! But next time try hunting that warthog the manly way with a knife :p :D

Wow! Great pictures. Glad you enjoyed your hunt. Doubt I will ever get to hunt Africa, but it's nice seeing all the pictures & reading the stories. Thanks for sharing.

I go to Africa every year hunting. (We leave on the 29th of July) We have a little bush camp in Namibia. It is a great passion in my life hunting there and I reckon that those who have done it know exactly what I mean. Congratulations on the hunt. Just an aside .. on my first trip to South Africa in 1977 I paid $250 a day and whacked a leopard for $650 U.S. About four or five years ago I tried to get someone to go with me on a leopard hunt for the amazing price of $115 a day Canadian and a trophy fee of $875 ... It was almost impossible to get a partner ... Certainly no one that I talked to around my little city of Lethbridge wanted to spring for the big bucks !!! I finally got a partner from B.C., who after weighing heavily the costs for a while, finally decided to go with me at that price rather than wait until the following year and pay at least $400 U.S. a day (14 days) and at least $2,500 U.S. trophy fee for a leopard. We each killed a leopard. Not counting airfare, my leopard hunt cost me $3,000 Canadian ... We each had our own guide and vehicle for most of the trip, skinners, trackers, first class food and accomodation, beer on tap .. There are some good deals out there, and that is a fact .. And you must trust me on this ... going into the long grass after a leopard that may or may not be dead ... you're not in Kansas anymore ... A year later I tried to get a partner to go on a free week's hunt in Uruguay ... Everything was supplied except for shotgun shells at $10 a box. A terrible time again trying to persuade someone to go with me .. One chap thought that he would spend too much money on shotgun shells ... ????? Arrrgghhhhhhhhh !!!! Anyways, Congratulations on your great hunt .. and as I am sure that you already know - young gemsbok is the Best on the dining room table !!!

Yup, I reckon that we did. I wasn't drawn this year but am still chewing on the bull that my wife knocked off in January of 2006.

Thanks for sharing...... I might just be up for such a trip sometime next year, which gives me that much greater incentive to scope, bed and tailor a load for my my 9.3x62, plus at least another suitable bolt gun. I'll be sure to send you a message soon requesting further information.

Was that price each, or combined?

Dave.

That was the combined price, it's gone up a bit now but a warthog is included for $6550 for 8 days, 8 animals.
springbok, impala, blesbok, gemsbok, warthog and then choice of Kudu or Waterbuck, black or blue wildebeest, red hartebeest or zebra.

huntersgame safaris, if anyone wants send me a PM and I will give the URl.

The PH is Nihan engelbrecht, we shot good animals, some of them very good, 10 of 13 that can qualify made the SCI book plus my son shot a very nice zebra for a rug.

He also has a cheaper 6 day package that I think is Kudu, gemsbock, sprinbok and impala for $2900 US, but dont quote me on the animal choice.
