Huntable 7.62x39??

The federal blue box 123gr SP is really good ammo. I was just at the range today and checked the zero on the ruger with it. Still grouping under 2" at 200m.

Don't know what the big deal is here....this cartridge is about the lowest powered round one could use on game animals, if anyone is that hard up for a gun to hunt big game with, gimme a call...I'll loan you a 30/30...a much more powerful round. I do think you owe it to the animal to use a more humane round for harvesting game. This round is only a step ahead of the .30 carbine, another wounder of game.

Thanks for the insight.

My experience with it is limited to one of my hunting buddies shooting one. Don't hit a mature deer anywhere but through the ribs and into the boiler room and not at more than 75 yards or it may be a long day.

Below is a comparison of the 30-30(150gr) along side the 7.62x39(125gr) that I pulled off of remington's website. Notice at 100 yards the 30-30 only has 116 ft/bs more energy than the 7.62x39. I am definately not hard up for a big game gun, but I like to use different tools. This year I will try the cz-858 and i am sure it will do fine. For me the range limit isn't from the round, but from the iron sights, and my ability (or inability) to make a clean shot.
